The Web is a phenomenal source of information about many topics. So it shouldn't be surprising that there is a wealth of info to help you brew better beer. These are just a few of the many interesting places I have bookmarked in my browser. So go get a homebrew, and take a few minutes to check them out.
A good place to start is with John Palmer's excellent piece "How to Brew Your First Beer." At http://www.realbeer.com/jjpalmer/Howtobrew.html And while we all know that sanitization is crucial to brewing good beer, it still is something we should pay more attention to. So check out another piece by John Palmer and Jim Liddil. http://realbeer.com/jjpalmer/cleaning.html Jim also has his own site at http://liddil.com/ which also has many other great documents available.
Once your brew is ready, you may want to keg it -- check out this piece by Alan Richer http://brewery.org/brewery/library/kegAR.html And speaking of kegs, here's a page that details how to convert a _ barrel keg into a great brewpot: _ Barrel Conversion FAQ by Teddy Winstead http://www.eecs.tulane.edu/www/Winstead/keg_conversion.faq.html
Here are some additional FAQ's (compendiums of Frequently Asked Questions):
Yeast FAQ by Patrick Weix -- http://www.realbeer.com/jjpalmer/yeastfaq.txt
Hops FAQ by Norm Pyle -- http://www.realbeer.com/hops/FAQ.html
Malt FAQ by Jim Busch -- http://www.realbeer.com/jjpalmer/Malt101.html
Another interesting thing to check out are some pieces by Dr. Pivo (Jeff Irvine) at http://www.bodensatz.com/homebrew/columns/jirvine/ Pivo means beer in Russian, Polish, and other Slavic languages. Dr. Pivo's documents are found on the page of Alan & Melissa McKay. There are a number of other interesting and helpful texts on their site. So spend a little time and explore the rest of their site from the homepage at http://www.bodensatz.com/homebrew/
And once again, a plug for my favorite brewing site (not to mention that they host our club web page) -- the Home Brew Digest. Check it out at http://hbd.org/ Go to the HTML archives. You can read and search any of the current or past digests. If you like it (and I can't imagine you wouldn't), you can follow the directions to subscribe and receive the digest in your email everyday. The HBD digest is absolutely the best brewing info resource available. You can also check out the other homebrew club web pages, the MCAB homepage, and many other interesting things hosted by the HBD.
Note from Bradley: The HBD is temporarily down now, so don't try right away.
