Bubblings From the Fermenter
By Richard Pushaw

Fellow Brewers,

The club started this year quite well. The Hogtowne Medieval Festival went very well, despite the rain-out on the final Sunday. Thanks to all those members who put a lot of time and effort into making this an exciting event. And special thanks to the tear-down crew who completed their work just before the heavy rains arrived.

Due to our success at the Faire, we are now able to offer club members more benefits. Most of these are competition centered. They include assistance to our members entering beers in competitions, and aid for our BJCP judges when they travel as our ambassadors. The executive committee created a new Czar of Charitable Works and Deeds position to help sort through and make recommendations on our charitable donations and to help organize charitable events.

Many events are planned for club members in the months ahead. We scheduled a Cajun Dinner (Mardi Gras) on the 22nd, and a Mexican Dinner is planned for sometime in May (Cinco de Mayo). A canoe trip is being planned for this spring, similar to the one the club did last spring. Don't miss it. And there are a bunch of upcoming competitions in Florida to participate in and enjoy.

A BJCP study group formed and met for the first time a few weeks ago. Any member seriously interested in pursuing BJCP recognition is encouraged to attend and participate. As always, any club member interested in brewing - for those of you that don't actually brew - or learning how, contact me and we'll get you set up with a fellow brewer close to you.

See you at the next meeting,

Richard
