Bubblings From the Fermenter
By Dave Perez
This month I have decided to reprint the Bubblings from August, since many people did not get a chance to read it. Now, I know what you're saying, "he had a little too much Moinette to drink and he can't type straight. Yes, I am sharing a lovely bottle of the fine Belgian beer as I write this, but that's not the reason for the repeat. This is just a very important issue and I hope this will stimulate some good ideas. Next month I'll write about Sara and my beer adventure to North Carolina and about our upcoming AHA Club Only competition.
At this months (August) Executive Committee meeting, we discussed the need for each and every member of the club to give something back. No, we don't mean your latest Stout, Porter, Belgian, or Pale Ale (though you may drop them by my house any time you please!). We are talking about service work. We would like for each member to perform at least one act of service for the club each year. That's not a lot considering what we get from this club. I will discuss more about the benefits of membership next month.
So, what exactly would constitute service to the club, you might ask? You could host a meeting, or host a club party, or give all of your beer to Dave, or organize a club event, or any other idea you may have. Coming to the Medieval Faire to drink and serve tons of great beer does not count, nor does participation in our regularly scheduled meetings. OK, the Medieval Faire can count, but then we all need to do two services for the club each year.
One of the services that we are in great need of is assistance with the newsletter. For the past three plus years, Mark has written and collected most of the articles. While continues to do a great job as our editor, we need more people to lend him some support. So if you are talented a writer or just have something interesting to say, why not write an article for this newsletter next month?
Ah, I think I have raised laziness to a high art form!
