Mead the Gueze

<editor's note>
Some news from the Real Beer Page Mail....

Lugashall Meadery and Cantillion recently released Mead the Gueze, a
combination of 30% mead and 70% lambic. Now Boon and New Belgium are
going to put out another beverage created by blending the beers of two
breweries. An interesting trend…..

NEW BELGIUM, BROUWERIJ BOON PLAN HISTORIC BLEND
Colorado's New Belgium Brewing Co. and Brouwerij Frank Boon of Belgium
have announced a historic venture that will result in a cross-Atlantic
beer blended from batches produced at each brewery. The concept is a
work in progress, but the plan is to ship a beer currently undergoing
the natural alchemy that occurs only in Lembeek, Belgium to Colorado.
This kriek will be blended with a beer being brewed at New Belgium
specifically for this venture. The resulting beer will age at the Fort
Collins brewery before being released. Frank Boon visited New Belgium
last week and signed a Letter of Intent alongside Kim Jordan, CEO of
New Belgium, during a press conference. Boon also attended the Great
American Beer Festival. "Europeans will tell you Americans water down
their beer, that they put ice in it," Boon said Saturday. "They don't
know what has occurred in the last 20 years. They need to come here and
see how much as changed."
