Bring out Your Dead, or the Medieval Faire is Coming Soon to a Neighborhood Near You
By Mark Tumarkin
As usual, the Medieval Faire is going to be one of the high points of the Hogtown Brewers' year. We've had 100% plus participation in years past, and we expect that again this year. People come out to help at the Faire that rarely show up at any other functions. It's a great party & and an unbelievable fundraiser for the club. Very few clubs, regardless of how big or small they are, have the kind of budget that we have available to us as a result of the Faire. This allows us to provide some incredible member benefits, first and foremost being the truly awesome presentation/tastings throughout the year.
Each year, we've gradually been getting the details worked out & down to a science. We're getting it more organized and more easily sustainable each year. We're trying to make the workload more distributed this year, so here's another volunteer opportunity. Ziggy is taking care of licensing & insurance, Richard P will be the GC in charge of booth & setup. Wayne is getting the beer gas & CO2, Mark is looking for a mead source (upcoming sample tasting soon). Although Linda & the City are providing some great new signs, Bradley will be volunteered for additional signage as necessary, but there's lots more that needs to be done. Someone want to volunteer to coordinate another Costume Party (we could use another half dozen or so)? Someone will have to be in charge of the volunteer schedule. We'll need people to pick up plastic glasses, lots of folks for setup & beer receiving and tastage (that's crucial, we must be sure we serve no bad beer to our customers), bringers of food, etc. And of course, EVERYONE is needed for the actual Faire weekends. So let Ziggy know what you want to do. If you don't know what you'd like to do, just ask….you'll make his day (but be prepared for some really weird suggestions).
