April Executive Committee Minutes
By Mark Tumarkin

We held the April Exec Committee meeting at Dave Perez's house, on Sunday, April 07. First order of business was to do the judging for the Belgian Style contest (look for results elsewhere in newsletter). We then moved on to piazza and some awesome beers. In between mouthfuls and bites, we discussed some of the following issues:

Beer Dinners - Richard P will organize the first beer dinner to be held at Craig & Nancy's on April 19th. Other variations will follow at later dates.

Style Competitions - George Perrin donated a pair of Orval glasses as first place prize for the style comp. We want to encourage other members to donate prizes for upcoming competitions. The club will put up t-shirts or glassware to fill in where necessary.

The Canoe trip will be held soon, with Guinness & Bass for black & tans - possible date change discussed.

National Homebrew Day, aka Big Brew, will be celebrated at Dr. Bob's lab. The date is May 4th, mark it on your calendars now. We will be brewing big batches of a Maibock and an Old Ale. We'll ferment each batch with several different yeast strains. We will register as an official Big Brew site with the AHA. More details later.

Brief mention of Road Trip/Pub Crawl 2002 trip to Tampa. We need to pick a date (maybe in July or August?), pick a hotel, pick pubs to visit. Think about it, all possible input would be appreciated.

Other topics touched on: Check on possible general liability insurance for coverage during the rest of year (in addt to Medieval Faire), draft statement of Responsible Alcohol, Dave is updating the contact info sheet and will distribute it when done, we'll send membership check for $25 to the Florida Brewers Guild, check on putting our glassware & t-shirts on our website, send club glassware to Rob Moline as a thank-you gift for sending us a copy of his video of some of the presentations from the AHA 2001 Natl Conf in LA.
