January 2002 Meeting Minutes
By Mark Tumarkin

Dave brought his first meeting to order by shouting "If you can see me, shut up·" followed by a wicked laugh. The February meeting will be held at Sara and Dave's house; while the March meeting will be at Karen and George's abode (unless the little brewer decides to show up early).

Greg announced his Retirement Party, to be held at the Clubhouse of the Biven's Arm Condos, following setup for the Medieval Faire. The sign-up sheet for the Faire was passed around, getting excellent response. Things are looking good for another Faire adventure.

On the competition scene, winners from the Big Bend Brew-Off in Tally were announced. Hogtown Brewers had a number of winners. The BOTY winners were also announced. The next BOTY style competition will be on Barleywines, Old Ales, Scotch Ales and Imperial Stouts.

Bruce led an incredibly diverse style presentation/tasting on the Belgian Ales.

Among those included were:

Chimay Red, White, and Blue Caps
A homebrewed Chimay Clone with original yeast, from our yeast bank
Rochefort Blue
Westvleteren
Orval
Two Westmalle clones, again with original yeast, from our yeast bank
Achel LaTrappe
Lindemans Framboise and Kriek
Liefmans Kriek
Hoegaarden Blanche
Corsendonk Brown and Pale Ales
Avery Brewing's The Reverend Quadruple

Plus additional wondrous nectars brought out by various members. Wayne's cooler also suffered additional 'shrinkage'.
