Home Brewer of the Year 2001 Points
We're back on track again with the BOTY judging. We'd fallen behind with the April Fruit, Spice & Vegetable, and Smoke contest. But now we're caught up again. We did the judging for both the April and May (the Lagers and Bocks) contests at the last meeting of the BJCP study group. This worked out very well, and we'll continue it - at least while we're holding the study group. So here are the results:
Current Standings
April - Fruit (21), Spice & Vegetable (22) and Smoke (23)
First Place - Richard Furlong
Second Place - Jim Ritchhart
Third Place - Pete Turner
May - All Lagers (1,2,9,13) and Bock (14)
First Place - Dave Williams
Second Place - Pete Turner
And with these results, we now have two brewers moving into a tie for first place! Congratulations, Richard and Pete! With six contests left, this is still a wide open race - but you've got to enter to win. You have time to brew entries for all of the remaining categories (with the possible exception of October's mead and cider contest) if you start now. So get those fermenters bubbling.
Upcoming style competitions -
May - All Lagers (1,2,9,13) and Bock (14)
June - Bitter & Eng Pale (4) and Scottish Ale (5)
July - German Wheat (17)
August - Am Pale Ale (6) and IPA (7)
September - Koelsch & Alt (8) and Light Ale (3)
October - Mead (25) and Cider (26)
November - Brown Ale (10)
